San Diego Comic-Con’s scaled back schedule

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) returns once again this year, but due to the actor’s strike several of the major names in entertainment like Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Netflix and others have bowed out this year, leading to what will be a scaled back affair.

But while the big, marquee names might not be present, there will still be other panels, and some that deserve fans attention. Below is a list of who’s still attending this year’s SDCC, and what can be expected from the event.

At booth #4804, Allen Ling from Gen Seven Comics and actor Sherman Augustus (“Stranger Things,” “Westworld,” “Dexter”) will be signing a new, steampunk graphic novel that the pair wrote together, called “Daughters of Django”. There are three different collector’s covers, all of which look amazing.
Thursday, July 20

11:00am — 12:30pm – Max Original Animation in Ballroom 20 – Max Original Animation will showcase its upcoming animation, a spin-off to the “Adventure Time” universe called “Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake”, a brand new series called “Young Love” based off Matthew A. Cherry and Sony Pictures Animation’s Oscar-winning animated short, “Hair Love”.

But what’s sure to excite fans the most is a preview of the fourth season of the popular “Harley Quinn” series. A release date please?

There will be exclusive sneak peeks, surprise panelists and more.

11:30am — 12:30pm – Paramount Pictures “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” (Hall H) – Thankfully not a casualty of studios pulling back, Paramount Pictures will be holding a panel discussing the hotly anticipated film, with the filmmakers and showing new footage.

2:30pm — 3:30pm – “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”: Symbiotic Relationships (Hall H) – Turning to video games, Insomniac Games’ will be holding this hour-long showcase to talk about the upcoming “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”, including a behind-the-scenes look the take on the symbiote Venom.

Creative director Bryan Intihar, game director Ryan Smith, narrative director Jon Paquette, and senior art director Jacinda Chew are joined by actors Yuri Lowenthal (Peter Parker), Nadji Jeter (Miles Morales), Laura Bailey (Mary Jane Watson), and Tony Todd (Venom), along with VO and creative director Bill Rosemann from Marvel Games, to chat.

3:30pm — 4:30pm – “Masters of the Universe: Revolution,” a Conversation with Kevin Smith and the Cast (Room 6BCF) – Kevin Smith hosts a discussion about the latest battle between He-Man and Skeletor in “ Masters of the Universe: Revolution”.

Friday June 21

11:00 am— 12:00pm – Is “The Orville” the Greatest sci-fi Show on Television? (Marriott Marquis Grand 10) – SciFiction’s very own Owen Cotter will be joining the panel to discuss the 2017 comedy series “The Orville” and whether it’s the greatest sci-fi show on TV.

11:30am — 12:30pm – Collider: Directors on Directing (Hall H) – David Leitch (“Deadpool 2,” “Bullet Train,” and “The Fall Guy”), Gareth Edwards (“The Creator,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” and “Godzilla”), and Justin Simien (“Dear White People,” “Bad Hair,” and “Haunted Mansion”) will discuss the art of directing, and about all kinds of projects, from the past, present and future. There will also be exclusive new footage from, “The Creator” and “Haunted Mansion”.

2:00pm — 3:00pm – “Rick and Morty” 10th Anniversary (Indigo Ballroom) – While Rick and Morty haven’t been around for 100 years yet, they have managed 10, which is cause for celebration! There will be a panel talking about the past, but will also look to the future, with an exclusive first look at the seventh season.
Saturday

11:00am — 11:45am – “Futurama” (Ballroom 20) – A screening of the animated show will happen right at SDCC just before new episodes are released on July 24, which will let new viewers pick up the series and cater to dedicated fans, with payoffs to Fry and Leela’s awesome romance, what really is in Nibbler’s litter box, Robot Santa’s secret history and the location of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile, “Futurama” gets meta, exploring the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.

1:30pm — 3:00pm – “Star Trek” Universe (Hall H) – While “Star Wars” will be absent from this year’s SDCC, “Star Trek” will be present, with a panel showing exclusive content for “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.”

4:00pm — 6:06pm – “Space Command” (Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom 5) – Directed by Elaine and Marc Scott Zicree, starring Ethan Mcdowell, and Mira Furlan, “Space Command” is an original sci-fi drama following the United Planet’s Space Command: a dedicated group of scientists, soldiers and adventurers exploring the solar system.

There will be autographs signed for the series of films and an exclusive screening Saturday 22nd July 4:00 PM Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom 5.

4:30pm — 6:00pm – William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill (Hall H) – William Shatner, Captain Kirk himself, hosts a great conversation about his amazing career, including two of his most recent endeavours, Legion M’s new documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill,” and his real-life journey into space. Shatner is joined by Alexandre O. Philippe (“The People vs. George Lucas,” “Lynch/Oz”), Legion M executives Jeff Annison and David Baxter, and some top secret guests.

5:15pm — 6:15pm – “Star Wars Outlaws”: Becoming the Galaxy’s Most Wanted (Room 6BCF) – Revealed not long ago, “Star Wars: Outlaws” is an upcoming game following scoundrel Kay Vess and her adorable companion Nix as they navigate the criminal underworld.

Creative director at Ubisoft Julian Gerighty, director franchise content and strategy at Lucasfilm Steve Blank, narrative director at Ubisoft Navid Khavari (narrative director, Ubisoft), and voice actors Humberly González (Kay Vess), Dee Bradley Baker (Nix, Jabba the Hutt), and Jay Rincon (ND-5) release more information about the adventure that awaits players.

6:30pm — 8:30pm – “Babylon 5: The Road Home” (Room 6BCF) – Marking the 30th anniversary with an all new animated movie, “Babylon 5: The Road Home”. Warner Bros. Discovery will host a screening of the film, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
