The Boys spin-off show Gen V confirms season 2 at Amazon Prime Video

‘The Boys’ spin-off show ‘Gen V’ has been renewed for a second season on Amazon Prime Video.

The eight-episode series began in late September and is due to finish on Nov 3, when the finale to the first season will be released.

“Expanding the universe of ‘The Boys’ with a series as bold as ‘Gen V’ has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios.

“From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew ‘Gen V’ would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped ‘Gen V’ become the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries.

“‘Gen V’ is Prime Video’s most acquisitive new original series of 2023, and we’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from ‘Gen V’ to our customers,” he added.

The series takes place at the fictional Godolkin University, a college to train Supes in the universe of ‘The Boys’.

The show follows Supe Marie Moreau, a freshman who is just starting at the university. But things aren’t as they seem at Godolkin, and Marie and the other students investigate.

Eric Kripke, who showruns ‘The Boys’ and oversees the college-set spinoff, teased the ‘Gen V’ season 1 finale will tie into the events of ‘The Boys’ season 4 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly before the series was renewed. “I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say that, by the end of season 1 of Gen V, there’s a handoff to season 4 of ‘The Boys,” he said.

“Then whenever we break season 4 of ‘The Boys’, there will be a handoff to the hopeful season 2 of ‘Gen V’,” Kripke added.
