Star Wars Movie Pulled from 2026 Disney Release Calendar

Disney has pulled the December 2026’ Star Wars’ movie from its release calendar.

It has been replaced with ‘Ice Age 6’, which will release on December 18, 2026.

The details of the ‘Star Wars’ movie in question were unknown, but speculation suggested that it would be the movie focused on Rey Skywalker after 2019’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’ and be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

2026 will still see the release of the ‘Star Wars’ film ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ in May from Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.

A new ‘Star Wars’ film has not hit cinemas since ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, though not for a lack of trying.

Patty Jenkins was tapped to direct ‘Rogue Squadron’, set for December 2023, though the project was indefinitely delayed after scheduling conflicts with ‘Wonder Woman 3’.

Several other creative are working on ‘Star Wars’ film projects, with Filoni and Favreau also working on a film focusing on the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, James Mangold’s project set 25,000 years before ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’ and Donald Glover on a Lando movie.

The next ‘Star Wars’ movie to be released in cinemas after ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’, currently dated for December 17, 2027.

Disney first announced it was working on a sixth instalment in the ‘Ice Age’ franchise at D23 Brasil.

John Leguizamo, Ray Romano, Queen will reprise their roles as Sid the Sloth, Manny the Mammoth and Manny’s daughter, Ellie.

Disney acquired the ‘Ice Age’ IP after the purchase of 21st Century Fox and will be the first time Disney has made an ‘Ice Age’ film, as the last one was released in 2016 and was titled ‘Ice Age: Collision Course’.

Blue Sky Studios was behind the animation for the ‘Ice Age’ films, and was closed in 2021 by Disney due to the economic impact of COVID-19.
