Respawn working on last gen Jedi Survivor ports
EA has confirmed that ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’ will be making its way to Xbox One and PS4 consoles.
CEO Andrew Wilson announced this in EA’s Q2 earnings call, saying that ‘Survivor’ is “pure blockbuster entertainment”, that is “rooted in a timeless, culture-defining IP”.
He continued: “Our team at Respawn proudly launched this title to critical acclaim and commercial success. Millions of players have already engaged with the game, making this one of the biggest events in the ‘Star Wars’ galaxy this year.
“Thanks to the strength of this legendary franchise and community demand, our development team has committed to bringing this Jedi experience to PS4 and Xbox One,” he continued.
“Over the coming year, we will harness the community’s passion and capitalize on key ‘Star Wars’ franchise moments to drive continued engagement for this incredible game.”
Later on in the earnings call, EA revealed that the port is “in the early stages of development.”
No release date has been announced.
‘Survivor’ was released on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in April 2023.
Many reviews praised the game as a whole, but criticized its lack of polish, especially on the PC version.
Respawn has released several patches to the game to smooth out the bugs.
‘Survivor’ is a sequel to the 2019 game ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ and continues the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi survivor of Order 66.
‘Survivor’ featured several connections to another time period in ‘Star Wars’, the High Republic.
The time period mainly exists in books and comics, with a children’s animated series ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’ also set in the High Republic era.
