The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal teases more Mandalorian mythology
Pedro Pascal and Katee Sackhoff have spoken to Empire Magazine for their February issue, teasing what audiences can expect for The Mandalorian season three.
In their interview, the Mandalorian himself Pedro Pascal mentioned that he loves what season three does for Mandalore and Mandalorians, saying it “means so many different facets of culture, politics, and rules and discoveries” for audiences to see.
Mandalore and Mandalorian culture is a huge part of Star Wars lore. The culture has been fleshed out in canon starting with the 2008 TV Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Many important elements were set up there like Bo-Katan Kryze’s first appearance and the introduction of the Darksaber.
Katee Sackoff voiced Bo-Katan Kryze in The Clone Wars, Rebels and plays her in live-action.
In The Clone Wars, audiences see her as part of the terrorist organisation called Deathwatch. In Rebels, she leads a resistance against the Imperials on Mandalore.
Speaking to Empire Magazine, Sackhoff explains Bo-Katan’s dynamic with Din is uneasy, and her tangled history also brings challenges. “We know the family that she was born into; now what’s the family that she’s going to choose? What does that look like?” she says.
Season two of The Mandalorian ended on a sour note for Bo-Katan, as Din ended up with the Darksaber, and not her. The first trailer for The Mandalorian also shows her to be in conflict with Din.
Empire also released a picture for the upcoming season, showing Din, Bo-Katan and Grogu together on what looks like Mandalore.
Audiences will be returning to the war-torn planet in the third season. Bo-Katan wants to reclaim her homeworld and Din wants to reclaim his honour.
Empire has also released pictures of what the newsstand and subscriber covers will look like.
The newsstand cover shows Din, Bo-Katan and Grogu standing next to each other against a black background. The subscriber cover shows a holographic image of several Mandalorian helmets, including Din’s, Bo Katan’s, and The Armor’s.
The Mandalorian season three comes out on March 1, 2023 on Disney+.
