15 games coming out in 2023

2023 is shaping up to be a huge year for video games, with many new and exciting titles coming out throughout the year. It can be very overwhelming to keep track of what’s coming down the pipeline, but here is a list of 15 games that should definitely be on your radar.
Games are listed by release date if known, otherwise it will be alphabetical at the bottom. Each will include a short description and the platforms the game will be coming out on. Be warned that some of these games might end up being delayed beyond these release dates.
Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is an open world game set in the Harry Potter universe, but before the events of either Harry Potter or the Fantastic Beasts franchise. It will allow players to take their own journey through Hogwarts in its vast open world, and discover secrets hidden throughout.
The game will be released on February 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to popular Star Wars single player game Jedi: Fallen Order and will continue Cal’s journey as the Empire cements its position as the dominant force in the galaxy. Gameplay shows new lightsaber styles, new enemy types but also new friends that will be helping.
The game will be released on March 17 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Star Trek: Resurgence
Star Trek fans will be getting a lot of content this year with Picard season three, a new narrative focused podcast, and Star Trek: Defiant comic. A video game is also in the pipeline, with Star Trek: Resurgence is a narrative focused game, with players being able to choose dialog choices, relationships, building and exploration.
Set just after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation, players will take on the role of first officer Jara Rydek and engineering ensign Carter Diaz as they aim to unravel a mystery around two civilisations on the brink of war.
The game will be released in April on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an action-adventure shooter focusing on the team of heroic villains from DC Comics, as they try stop Brainiac, who has taken control of the Justice League. Players will be able to manage squad members with different abilities either on their own or through online multiplayer.
The game will be released on May 26 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Robocop: Rogue City
Robocop: Rogue City will let players take control of the dreaded Robocop – voiced by original actor Peter Weller – as he attempts to clean up the crime ridden streets of Old Detroit. Expect lots of violence but also the philosophical introspection the franchise is known for.
The game will release in June 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series
Telltale have adapted a number of different franchises into a choose your own adventure game and now their latest series will be on The Expanse. Acting as a prequel to the main TV show, with players taking control of Captain Camina Drummer of the Artemis, and making difficult decisions to survive.
The game releases in summer 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Aliens: Dark Descent
Aliens: Dark Descent is a real time strategy game, similar to XCOM and will see players command a squad of hardened Colonial Marines to stop a Xenomorph outbreak on Moon Lethe. There will be a selection of different classes and the aliens will adapt to player tactics, forcing a switch every now and then.
While the exact release date for the game is currently unknown, it will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
The Avatar franchise will continue to grow in 2023. James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water is a smash hit in cinemas, and Ubisoft will hope that their open world game will wow fans just as much. Players will be a member of the Na’vi as they hope to push back the RDA in a new explorable area called the Western Frontier.
While the exact release date for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is currently unknown, it will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Homeworld 3
Homeworld 3 is the third instalment in the sci-fi franchise, and will be all about the space battles. Players will be able to command fleets of spaceships in this real time strategy game and will have to contend with floating debris, asteroids and particle storms along with the enemy fleets.
While the exact release date has yet to be confirmed, gamers can expect this game to come in the first half of 2023. It will be released on PC.
Lies of P
Lies of P is an upcoming soulslike game from Neowiz Games. It will star an alternate version of Pinocchio, as he kills grotesque enemies in his quest to become a real boy.
The exact release date has yet to be confirmed, and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Starfield
Starfield is Bethesda’s latest open world RPG after Skyrim and Fallout, and it will take players to space. There will be over 1,000 explorable planets, with the game’s narrative taking place in 2330.
The game’s release date is unknown. It will be released on Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Star Wars: Hunters
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn’t the only Star Wars video game coming out in 2023. Star Wars: Hunters, a player vs player arena game, was initially set to come out in 2022, but it unfortunately got delayed. Set after the fall of the Empire, it will include a diverse cast of characters, including heroes from the Rebellion, Imperials and Bounty Hunters.
A firm release date hasn’t been set, but the game will come out on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will be a first person retro shooter, with frenetic gameplay and visuals that have come from the 90s era of gaming. Players will be digging deep into the arsenal of the Space Marines to blast through the forces threatening the Imperium of Man.
The release date for the game hasn’t been confirmed, but the game will be on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a top-down PC RPG where players will assume the role of a Rogue Trader, a blend of ship’s captain, spy, trade magnate, mercenary commander, and ruthless privateer. Surrounded by a crew of other trailers, players will search the 40k galaxy in search of fortune and glory.
The release date is unknown, but the game will come out on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the sequel to the 2011 hack and slash and it will find players saving mankind to obliterate the alien Tyranids. Footage shows iconic weapons such as Thunder hammer, Chainsword, Power sword Boltgun and Occulus bolt carbine.
The game’s release date hasn’t been unveiled. The game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
These games are not the only ones coming out in 2023, but are some of the ones that sci-fi and fantasy fans should keep their eye on.
