Star Trek: Khan: Ceti Alpha V Announced

By Kieran Burt.

On Star Trek Day in September it was announced by Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer. He would create a new and original story in the Star Trek world, taking place just before the events of Wrath of Khan

The podcast will be titled Khan: Ceti Alpha V, and tells the story of Khan and his followers. The podcast will tell the events that happened to Khan after Captain Kirk marooned him on the planet Ceti Alpha V in the original series episode ‘Space Seed’.

Ceti Alpha V is doomed to be devastated by its neighbour, Ceti Alpha VI during an explosion. This kills most of Khan’s followers, and his wife. Wrath of Khan picks up from this point, with Starfleet finding Khan.

It will be the first scripted podcast for the franchise. No cast has been announced yet.

Nicholas Meyer returns to create the story, with Alex Kurtzman, Aaron Baiers, Trevor Roth and Rod Roddenberry serving as executive producers.

Talking to StarTrek.com, Alex Kurtzman gave his praise for Wrath of Khan, saying that Meyer had made “ the definitive Trek movie” and “we’ve all been standing in its shadow since.”

Continuing, Kurtzman said: “Forty years have offered him a lot of perspective on these extraordinary characters and the way they’ve impacted generations of fans. Now he’s come up with something as surprising, gripping and emotional as the original, and it’s a real honour to be able to let him tell the next chapter in this story exactly the way he wants to”

This announcement comes as Wrath of Khan celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The project will be released in 2023.
