Paramount+’s Halo Series Cancelled after Two Seasons But Could Be Resurrected Elsewhere

The ‘Halo’ series has been cancelled after two seasons on Paramount+.

Niether Microsoft of Paramount gave a reason for the cancellation, with the end of season two seting the adaptation for a bold future.

Season 1 released on the streamer in March 2022, and introduced fans to a new Master Chief, otherwise known Petty Officer John 117, played by Pablo Schreiber. The second season released in February and March 2024.

“Paramount+ can confirm that ‘Halo’ will not move forward with a third season on the service,” Paramount said in a stataement.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work.

“We wish everyone the best going forward.”

According to Variety, Xbox, Amblin TV, and 343 Industries will shop the show around for future seasons.

“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the ‘Halo’ series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the ‘Halo’ universe in different ways in the future,” 343 Industries said.

“We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

Other cast members included Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.

The show is based off the game ‘Halo: Combat Involved’, which was released in 2001. The series changed a lot from its source material, something many fans didn’t like.

Set in the 26th century, ‘Halo’ follows humanity as they’re embroiled in a galaxy-spanning conflict with a religious faction called The Covenant, who are made up of many different alien races.

There were also mystical elements to the franchise, largely surrounding an ancient race called the Forerunners, and why they built huge megastructures called Halos.
