LEGO Reveals New Set Based on Sauron’s Fortress Barad-dûr
LEGO has revealed a new set based on Barad-dûr, Sauron’s dark tower as seen in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy.
The set, numbered 10333 and part of the LEGO ICONS line, will contain 5471 pieces and will be 83 cm (32.5 in.) high, 45 cm (17.5 in.) wide and 30 cm (12 in.) deep.
It comes with ten minifigures including Sauron, Mouth of Sauron, Frodo, Sam, Gollum, Gothmog and several Orcs.
There are several play features included in the set as the black gate is automated, the Eye of Sauron illuminates and the 4-section modular structure features detailed rooms, including a weapons forge, throne room and prison.
The set will cost $460 or £399.99 and is available for pre-order.
It will be available on June 4.
This is the second LEGO set that the company has recently released with the ‘Lord of the Rings’ theme.
Last year, LEGO released the LEGO Rivendale 10316 set, which featured 15 minifigures and 6,167 pieces.
It was well-recieved by fans, with many praising its minifigures, the modular nature and the overall design.
‘Lord of the Rings’ has seen a recent revitalisation, with the TV show ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ releasing its first season on Prime Video in 2022 and has a second season releasing on August 29.
‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’ is an anime film releasing in Decemeber 2024 to tell the story of the founding of Helm’s Deep fortress.
Warner Bros. Discovery also announced that Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson will be returning to the franchise to make a feature film with the working title ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ slated with a 2026 release.
