A New DC TV Series Will be Hitting MAX Soon

A new television series will be hitting MAX soon, bringing the world of science-fiction and
superheroes together and doing justice. British director James Hawes, who has worked on
projects such as Doctor Who and Slow Horses, is starting up a new project with some iconic DC
superheroes.

This project, titled Lanterns, will focus on a dark mystery hidden on Earth. It follows two
Green Lanterns known as Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a mysterious
murder in the American heartland. While it will have some of the science-fiction components, it
gives a big vibe of “True Detective.” James Hawes states: “It doesn’t lack its sci-fi magic, but it’s
done in a world where you accept these things just are. They don’t need that extra sprinkle of
sci-fi fairy dust. It works within a physical world that we’ve come to know.”

The show will make an appearance sometime in 2026, and not much more information
has been released due to “not wanting to give away any potential spoilers” other than the fact
eight episodes have been confirmed so far.
