Andor Season 2 Trailer Reaction

Audiences can finally see the trailer for the upcoming second season of the critically acclaimed ‘Andor’, with the minute-and-a-half long clip oozing with confidence. There aren’t many slow moments at all in this, just quick bursts of action weaved with critics’ quotes. Audiences get a look at returning characters, though that doesn’t seem to come at the expense of the new ones ‘Andor’ has established, as they’re all here, even Syril Karn’s mum!

Star Wars

While the series has very much fashioned itself as a political thriller type of affair, with each episode ideology infused, the season two trailer seems to only pay lip service to this aspect. The music, while chanting revolution, is too upbeat and bombastic for bleakness that ‘Andor’ is known for, with nearly every shot being high octane action. What it does read though is confidence, that Disney knows they’ve a hit on their hands and aren’t content just to be quiet about this. The weaving of critics’ quotes throughout the trailer also supports this, as Disney boldly displays the quotes that hailed ‘Andor’ as a success.

Disney is also able to mask the plot of the second season, as the action on display jumps from moment to moment with barely any space for dialogue. Audiences see Andor take the TIE Avenger for a spin, demonstrating the effectiveness of its heavy weaponry, stormtroopers crack down on a revolt, the Imperial Army gears up for a protest, and audiences see Andor manage to blow up a facility. It hides what is really going on, which means that it will be a surprise when audiences finally see the second season.

But, if there’s one thing this trailer does, it’s show all the major players that will be in this season. Ruescott Melshi is seen shooting wildly, Luthen Rael, Saw Gerrera dons his ‘Rogue One’ costume and gives a passionate speech, Mon Mothma lets herself go at a dance, Dedra Meero seems exasperated at something (likely another major Imperial player),  Syril Karn runs out of an Imperial safehouse, and even his mother has a moment to shine. ‘Star Wars’ fans will also spot familiar faces from ‘Rogue One’ joining the season, with Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic overseeing the Death Star and the return of Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO.

How everyone fits together for this is currently unknown. Fans don’t have long to wait though, as the first three episodes of ‘Andor’ season two will release on Disney+ on April 22.
