Review: All I Need to Know About Success I Learned from Star Trek

Since its premiere over 50 years ago, Star Trek has played an important part in
people’s lives across all walks of life. Pushing social boundaries, Star Trek has told
creative allegories that are still relevant to our daily lives. It has inspired an avid Star
Trek fan who is also a business owner, to write a book about it. In his book, he
creatively explains the business and life lessons that can be learned from Star Trek.

The author has written this book creatively and interestingly. Each chapter lists
the episode or episodes that he will be discussing at the beginning of the chapter. He
summarizes the episode and then starts breaking down the lessons that can be learned
in that episode. He takes conversations straight from the episode and places them word
for word in the book. From there, he easily explains the lessons that can be learned
from each episode.

This book is an easy read. It’s not intended to be read in one sitting. After reading
a chapter, I would go back and watch the episode. You don’t need to binge this book
either. It can be read in parts. I would encourage you to read a chapter, watch the
episode the author wrote about, and then think about it for a few days. Following this
process can ensure that the message is absorbed and your life and or business
prospects can be positively influenced. Star Trek is currently streaming on Prime at the
time of writing this article.

However, this feels more like a YouTube video script versus a traditional business
book. I have read several life, philosophy, and business books. This book doesn’t read
like a traditional business book. There is also a lot of white space. More than a book
should. If the author were to make a video using this script, add clips from the show,
and post it to YouTube, I could see this getting at least 1 million views. YouTube has
become the perfect place for video essays and longer content. Many YouTubers make
video essays about their favorite series, fandom, etc. Some of those videos are 20
minutes to hours long. And they all get millions of views. If the author chose to make an
hour or longer video using his written material, it would reach many more people.

This book provides solid business advice and just life advice in general. This
book is for everyone. If you have seen all the episodes of Star Trek before, you will look
at them differently after reading this book. Even if you are a novice Star Trek fan, you
will still find this book beneficial to your life. To those who have never seen a single
episode of Star Trek, I would highly recommend this book to you. There is even a
chapter in there for you as a soft introduction to the original series. If you’re a Star Trek
fan and you have a small business, I definitely would recommend this book to you.
