Tactical Breach Wizards Pits Magical Mercenaries Against A Magical Mafia
Tactical Breach Wizards is a tactical shooter with a brisk pace. It keeps the action moving without becoming overwhelming because of its rewind feature. The narrative follows a group of magical mercenaries taking on a druid mafia. Which may not be as unique as its blend of sci-fi and fantasy, but is still full of humor. There’s a dialogue system though it’s mostly flavor text with no real change to the story. This can be skipped for players who want to get right into action.
The fights are still tense. Action points restrict what can be done and even the rewind feature can’t save everyone, every time. The fun also comes from how enemies can be defeated. Yes, there’s a variety of guns and spells but enemies can also be knocked from windows. An option that’s always too tempting to pass up.
There’s a nice mix of levels where specific solutions are necessary. The rest allows more and more ridiculous options to be used. This allows progression that’s mostly unhindered. Each level can be repeated regardless. As characters level up the game can feel unfairly tipped in your favor. Though the challenge isn’t completely lost, which is a feat in itself.
Tactical Breach Wizards is an approachable puzzle game beneath its zany antics. It has characters that are easy to root for from beginning to end. Its flexibility allows gameplay to feel fresh hours in. Getting through a level feels satisfying. And it remains interesting to see how different team formations work together. This game takes a funny idea and turns it into a great experience.
