William Shatner, Back to the Future, and Fallout to be honored at 52nd Saturn Awards

Iconic figures and franchises will be honored at the upcoming 52nd Saturn Awards on February 2.

William Shatner, best known for portraying the character of Captain Kirk in ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’ will be rewarded for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

This award is reserved for those who are not only revered for their outstanding work, but also those who have helped to further genre entertainment in the industry and beyond.

Shatner has previously hosted the Saturn Awards in the 1970s, won Best Actor for “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’ and presented last year’s Robert Forster Artist’s Award to Seth MacFarlane.

Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Bob Gale, and Alan Silvestri will be present at the awards to represent the iconic sci-fi film ‘Back to the Future’ as it receives The George Pal Memorial Award, given in honour of George Pal, a Hungarian-born American animator and film producer, who is associated with ‘War of the Worlds’ and ‘The Time Machine’.

It’s not just older franchises that are being recognised by the Saturn Awards. The cast and crew of the adaptation of ‘Fallout’ will be present to accept The Spotlight Award, given by Ron Perlman.

The Spotlight Award is given to a film or series the Academy deems worthy of special recognition.

The Academy explained that ‘Fallout’ “not only lived up to and exceeded gamers’ expectations but also welcomed millions of new science fiction fans into its world of post-apocalyptic adventure, retro-futuristic intrigue, and darkly comedic survival.”

The Saturn Awards will be live-streamed free on both Electric Entertainment’s premium OTT app and FAST channel, ElectricNOW and The Roku Channel.
