The post also revealed that the film will be swapping release dates with Marvel Studios’ anti-hero team-up story ‘Thunderbolts’ to come out on July 25, 2025.

‘Thunderbolts’ will now be released on May 2, 2025.

‘The Fantastic Four’ will be written by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer.

Matt Shakman, who helmed the Marvel Cinematic Universe series ‘WandaVision,’ will direct the film.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961, The Fantastic Four got their powers after being exposed to cosmic space rays.

The family has already been the subject of three adaptations by 20th Century Fox.

Fox made two films in 2005 and 2007, ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of Silver Surfer’ respectively. Combined, the global box office for both films was over $635 million.

A reboot by Josh Trank was released in 2015, but it was critically mauled and only made $167.8 million at the worldwide box office.

An unreleased film was also made in 1994 titled ‘The Fantastic Four’ was made by 20th Century Fox.

When Disney acquired Fox in 2019, Fantastic Four was one of the properties they absorbed.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced a film based on the Fantastic Four set in the MCU that same year at their San Diego Comic-Con presentation.
