The Best Sci-Fi and Fantasy to Watch This Week

Another week, another rundown of great things to watch. Things are a little slow in theatres at the moment, but there’s still plenty to watch on streaming, and as always, Netflix has some great new additions you won’t want to miss out on.

Blood of Zeus season 3

Streaming May 8 in Netflix

An anime series based around the ancient Greek myths, the show sees Heron, the demigod son of Zeus, fighting to save Olympus and the Earth.

The third season and final will see the demigods face off against their greatest adversaries yet, Cronos and the Titans in an epic final battle.

The Twilight Saga

All movies streaming now on Netflix

When it comes to mid-2000s fantasy, it doesn’t get more iconic than the ‘Twilight’ franchise, the series of romance fantasy movies based on the books by Stephenie Meyer.

Focusing on the teenage romances between humans, vampires and werewolves. They might not have been the best received–none of the four movies have a Rotten Tomatoes rating above 48%–but they were commercial hits, bringing in over $3 billion, and have maintained a cult following ever since. So if you’re looking for some slightly trashy fantasy, then check out all of them on Netflix now!

The Wild Robot

Streaming May 2 on Netflix

One of the best movies to release last year, this animated feature follows a service robot, Roz, who’s lost in a shipment, and ends up shipwrecked on an island inhabited with wild animals. She takes on the responsibility of raising an orphaned goose chick, but is it just her programming that makes her care, or is it something more?

This is one of those perfect films that both children and adults can watch and be satisfied with the story. It’s heartwarming, tragic, and emotional, with beautiful animation and an equally beautiful story. Definitely don’t miss it if you didn’t get a chance to see it in theatres.

That’s all for this week but be sure to check back again next week for another list of the best sci-fi and fantasy to watch in theatres, TV, and on streaming and digital.
