Star Wars Visions Season 3 Announced
Lucasfilm have announced that ‘Star Wars:Visions’ will be returning for a third season on Disney+ in 2025.
The news was announced at the 2024 Disney APAC Content Showcase.
The next installment will introduce five new anime studios to the world of ‘Star Wars’ – ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga), David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio.
Returning contributors include returning contributors Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, and TRIGGER.
‘Star Wars: Visions’ first debuted on Disney+ in 2021, allowing different Japanese anime studios to create their own tale in a galaxy far far away.
The show’s second season came from anime studios across the world, including Aardman (U.K.), El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Studio Mir (South Korea), Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio (Japan) along with Lucasfilm (U.S.), and Triggerfish (South Africa/Ireland).
The anthology format lets the studios come up with their own tale, without worrying about how it impacts the show’s continuity or the wider ‘Star Wars’ canon.
It’s unclear when in 2025 the show will release, but fans will likely get more information at Star Wars Celebrations which will be held in Japan in April 2025.
The show has been met with near-universal acclaim from both critics and fans, who love the boldness of the series.
Both the first and second seasons of ‘Star Wars: Visions’ are available to watch on Disney+.
