Star Wars reveals first look at Thrawn: Alliances comic adaptation
Star Wars has given fans the first look at the upcoming ‘Thrawn: Alliances’ comic adaptation by releasing a snippet of the first issue, released on January 24.
The comic, published by Marvel, will adapt the 2018 novel ‘Thrawn Alliances,’ written by Timothy Zahn.
Thrawn: Alliances #1 is written by Timothy Zahn and Jody Houser, and illustrated by Pat Olliffe and Andrea Di Vito with a cover by Rod Reis.
The official Star Wars Instagram account posted the cover showing the Grand Admiral.

There will be a total of four issues in this adaptation, with issues two and three will be released in February and March respectively.
A release date for the fourth and final issue has not yet been announced.
The novel is the second in the first canon ‘Thrawn’ trilogy and features Thrawn and Darth Vader working together to stop an unknown threat to the Empire, and a parallel story showing Thrawn working with Anakin Skywalker to rescue Padmé Amidala from capture.
The present-day story with Thrawn and Vader is set after the end of Season three of the animated show ‘Star Wars: Rebels.’
The story features the planet Batuu, a location prominently featured at the Galaxy Edge attraction at Disney World in Florida.
Star Wars has already adapted the first novel ‘Thrawn’ into a comic, and has also adapted the first and second seasons of ‘The Mandalorian’ and the mini-series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi.’
‘Thrawn: Alliances’ adaptation is notable because it will give audiences their first depiction of the Grysk, an alien species introduced in the book.
They have since popped up in the book’s sequel ‘Thrawn: Treason’ and the newest Thrawn trilogy.
