LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past Official Trailer Reaction

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past has debuted the trailer for the upcoming second part, showing that the LEGO themed story will be returning to complete the set it started last year. The trailer gives audiences a look at a fresh villain, Darth Solitus, and teases Sig Greebling and Darth Dev will have to join forces to stop this new threat.

Star Wars

The trailer opens with Sig accepting the changed universe as the status quo, a shocking turn of events as these stories usually end with everything returning to normal. But good guys are now bad, and bad guys are now good, and that is the new, peaceful norm. Though just as Sig is relaxing in his new universe, a new evil emerges, a black ship tearing the very fabric of reality. It’s a big opening statement, immediately showing that the stakes are much higher this time.

After this, Solitus gets an introduction, revealing he has finally got the power to unmake the galaxy once and for all. It’s a scary threat, especially as all things in the LEGO world are built, so to be unmade would be a huge problem. He looks like a compelling villain, and his lightsaber nunchucks look equally intimidating, a cool new lightsaber form. Just so the tone doesn’t get overbearing, Palpatine chastises Vader for his awfully loud breathing, a clever gag as Palpatine was responsible for Vader being like he is, and it doesn’t matter which universe Vader is his Palpatine will always berate him.

To defeat this overbearing evil, Sig Greebling teams up with Darth Dev, and together they build a sick looking Snowspeeder … er, I guess Firespeeder now. Jedi Bob isn’t convinced of Dev’s goodness, very poignantly reminding everyone that Sith treachery is LEGENDARY. But it remains to be seen if Dev can be trusted, no doubt if he got his hands on the power Solitus has, it would corrupt him instantly.

They aren’t the only characters, as the tease from the end of the first season pays off. Baby Yoda is still just as cute in this new universe as the normal one, and he’s still called Grogu. But audiences get a look at the Landolorian in action, hopefully he has a sizable part as it would be funny.

The trailer here takes a darker turn, with a giant Chewbacca chasing the heroes, followed by a brick-built Ahsoka Tano, with Ashley Eckstein reprising her role as the character. Sig worries he isn’t up to the task of defeating the massive droid armies ahead of him, he certainly has a challenge.

The trailer caps off with more humour, such as a Purrgil-Porgs who can travel through lightspeed, helping the heroes move about. At the end, Jaxxon the rabbit shows up, joking that to most fans he’s a real deep cut, which is true, as he was introduced to the franchise decades ago as a whacky idea. But it’s brilliant that such a deep cut is about to become a lot more mainstream thanks to LEGO.

‘LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past’ releases on Disney+ on September 19.
