Jim Henson Creature Shop Turns the Strange New Worlds Cast into Muppets
‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ is going to even stranger new places, with an episode that will take the crew into the land of puppets.
The Jim Henson Creature Shop has taken all of the crew from the show and turned them into puppets for an upcoming episode.
This was teased at the ‘Star Trek’ panel at Hall H at San Diego Comic-Com, with executive producer Akiva Goldsman saying “There might have been an unexpected and terrible transporter accident. Which might have had some unexpected felt-like effects.”
A short teaser for the upcoming puppet episode was released online, showing Captain Christopher Pike sitting in his chair, but distinctly not as a human.
‘Strange New Worlds’ has consistently experimented with its tone, with whimsical elements being added to change the format throughout its run.
Past experimentations include horror, screwball comedy, costume fantasy and even a musical episode and a crossover episode with the animated series ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’
‘Strange New Worlds’ will conclude with a fifth season, with Goldsman saying the series will lead right up to the first day Captain James Kirk takes command of the Enterprise.
He then encouraged fans to write to Paramount and Skydance to get them to greenlight a sequel series, ‘Star Trek: Year One’ which would be set during the classic series time
Audiences also got to see the latest episode of ‘Strange New Worlds’, a period murder mystery titled ‘A Space Adventure Hour’.
