Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire reveal and teaser
With the success of Godzilla Vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is now moving the franchise forward, a few letters of the alphabet at a time with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
An official synopsis for the film reads:
“This latest entry in the MonsterVerse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla Vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence — and our own.
“The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
While the titular monsters are set to return, there is a mysterious new monster on the block, as confirmed by the teaser.
Sat atop a throne of skulls on Hollow Earth, this ape-like creature has blue eyes, but no name yet. No doubt it’ll be the big bad for the film.
Two of the skulls are Godzilla and Kong, hinting at the trouble the heroes will have. At the end of Godzilla vs. Kong, the two forged an alliance and will surely fight this foe together.
Some humans set to reprise their role are Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia.
New ones include Moana’s Rachel House, The Devil’s Hour star Alex Ferns, Shang-Chi actor Fala Chen, and Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens.
Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that the film will come out in cinemas on March 15, 2024.
