Gamescom Day 2 and Highlights
Gamescom Days Two and Three wrapped up with a variety of indie games. More survival games that will let players explore action packed worlds; some even with couch co-op. Plus genre blending games that seek to immerse gamers while giving them as many options on how to play as they’re willing to invest in. Fans of sometimes whimsical but mostly chaotic Two Point Series will be able to manage museums and aquariums in upcoming Two Point Museum. Of course, there were some big highlights.
- Star Wars Outlaws
A story trailer was revealed that shows Kay being pulled into a risky heist. This show why the player is running from the empire. Outlaws will put players in the center of the underworld. They’ll have to trawl through uniquely designed catinas for information while working for, or against, the five main syndicates. All while traveling the universe with an adorably tiny companion that can be used to distract enemies.
- World of Warcraft: The War Within
Blizzard announced early access for Warcraft’s latest expansion. They also announced new features like delves, which will be short dungeons that can be completed in around twenty minutes. One of the most welcome new features is getting to create a warband. This allows players to share rep progression across four alts, and this warband will be shown on the log-in screen. With the game releasing on August 26th, players won’t have much longer to wait to explore the new zones and dungeons coming to World of Warcraft.
- Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2
The gameplay overview showed off complex melee to ranged weapons. The main campaign will allow up to three players to join a game. On top of that, there will be a PVE campaign that lets players create their own customized space marine. This campaign leads into Space Marine’s hotly anticipated PVP mode. The game also promises a new enemy system that allows masses of tyranids to be on screen at once. So players always feel like they’re seconds away from being overwhelmed.
Avowed
We got an in-depth look at one of Avowed’s dungeons. It showed off the game’s dialogue system as well as its character bios. This allows the game to give relevant information without bogging down dialogue. Players will get five backgrounds that will affect which checks they can pass. However, characters are able to wield any weapon, including magic, as they aren’t class bound. Avowed is slated for a February 18, 2025 launch. So players will soon get to return to the world of Pillars of Eternity.
