‘In The Lost Lands’ Trailer Reaction
A trailer has just been released for ‘In The Lost Lands’, a fantasy movie based on the works of legendary author George R R Martin.
In the future, the world has been changed into a desolate dystopia. Most people live inside a great walled city, with the area outside being known as the Lost Lands, a dangerous, inhospitable place where people rarely go.
We’re introduced to the movie’s main characters, Gray Alys, a witch who has the power to grant wishes, though everyone she grants comes with unseen consequences. She is sent by her queen into the Lost Lands to find a magical item with immense power and bring it to her, so she can free her people from the tyrannical overlords who’ve enslaved them. To make it through the Lost Lands, she hires Boyce, a skilled hunter who can help her survive the dangers waiting there.
While George R R Martin is best known for his infamous long-running fantasy epic ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, this is a completely unconnected world, based on a short story that was first published back in the 1980s. Unlike ‘ASOIAF’, which is set in a completely made-up world, this takes place in a dystopian version of our own, where magic exists.
The movie is directed by Paul W S Anderson, who has a lot of experience with the sci-fi and fantasy genres, having directed movies such as ‘Event Horizon’ and Mortal Kombat’, which suggests he’ll hopefully be a good choice for this film.
It stars Milla Jovovich as Gray, and Dave Bautista as Boyce. Both are familiar with the genre, having worked in it before.
While this has come from the mind of George R R Martin, it’s a lot smaller in scale than ‘Game of Thrones’, mainly focusing on these two characters, and their journey into the bleak Lost Lands, where they have to contend with the inhospitable location and the creatures that live there. It’s one of the few of Martin’s works that have been adapted for the big screen, and could be a big draw for fans of the author who want to see more of his stories made into films, or who are eager to see more of his work while they wait for season three of ‘House of the Dragon’.
‘In The Lost Lands’ has a release date set for March 7, 2025.
