Marvel Studios’ Blade Indefinitely Delayed

The ‘Blade’ reboot, starring Mahershala Ali, from Marvel Studios has been indefinitely delayed.

The film, which was set to come out on November 7, 2025,  has now been taken off Disney’s release calendar, and has now been replaced with a new film in the ‘Predator’ franchise, called ‘Predator: Badlands’.

This delay is not entirely a surprise as ‘Blade’ is currently without a director and has faced several previous delays.

Marvel Studios announced ‘Blade’ at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2019, but has been hit with several issues along the way, like the pandemic, two Hollywood strikes, and losing two directors.

Feige confirmed the studio was still committed to to making the project, telling Black Tree TV in July “For the last few years, as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it, and making sure we are making the right Blade movie. Because there were some great Blade movies years ago.”

Eric Pearson, known for wiritng ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, is the current writer on the script for ‘Blade’.

Wesley Snipes starred in the ‘Blade’ trilogy films from 1998-2004, and had a surprise role in 2024’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.

The film even featured a meta-joke in which Snipes’ version of Blade remarked there would never be another Blade besides him, to which Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool looks at the screen knowingly.

Marvel also staked out release dates for several untitled projects on February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028 and November 10, 2028.

The ‘Predator’ franchise started in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

There have been several films in the franchise with varying critical reception, with 2022’s ‘Prey’ reinvigorating life in the franchise when it released onto Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally.
