Alien: Romulus Scoring Major Success, Exceeding Expectations
The Alien franchise is extremely popular in the sci-fi and horror industry, and it’s always a surprise
when it comes to upcoming films. Between creative kills and gross special effects, it never fails to
entertain the viewers who are huge fans of the franchise. Without giving any direct spoilers pertaining to
the plot, the newest Alien film was beyond successful, receiving positive reviews and outdoing their
budget. Alien: Romulus received an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, one of the most critical review sites
regarding films, and a 7/10 rating on IMDb.
The film explores the story of Rain Carradine, an orphan who works at a mining colony with her
brother Andy. After her contract is extended, her ex-boyfriend Tyler talks her into joining an expedition to a
space station to retrieve cryostasis chambers. While exploring the space station, the crew comes across
a terrifying life form that proves fatal to the human race.
Like the earlier Alien films, Romulus contains notable elements that made the previous films so
popular, such as a strong female lead (Cailee Spaeny), graphic visuals, and a gloomy atmosphere that
was captured in previous films. The film goes in depth with the lore of the films, which wasn’t as explored
in previous movies and will really engage the viewers, answering some questions fans may have had
before. There are also various references to the previous films. Many fans have stated that this film is the
most loyal to the original film out of all of the sequels that have been made because of this.
The seventh film in the series exceeded over $330 million at the box office with a budget of $80
million, which is mindblowing. The question remains if there will be more films, or will this incredible
addition to the series be the last?
