Marvel Studios at SDCC 2024 – Robert Downey Jr Returns, Fantastic Four Title Revealed And More
Marvel Studios have had a huge San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, with huge casting announcements, title reveals and more. Spurred on by the fantastic response to ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, Marvel Studios were able to put their fans into even more of a fighting frenzy.
Of course, the biggest one is the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Victor Von Doom. Downey Jr is of course famous for bringing Tony Stark aka Iron Man to life, where he later died in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Downey Jr. will be playing the antagonist in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ – the new title of ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avenger: Secret Wars’. It’s not unlikely that he will appear in the Fantastic Four reboot either.
Not only this, but Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo, commonly known as the Russo brothers, will direct both ‘Avengers’ films with Stephen McFeely returning to write.
Turning to other MCU projects, it was announced that the mystery villain that Gincarlo Esposito will be playing in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will be Sidewinder, the King of the Serpent Society.
The presence of the Celestial Tiamut is also confirmed in the film, and it was announced that this is how the rare metal of Adamantium, most often associated with Wolverine, will be introduced into the MCU.
The MCU reboot of the Fantastic Four got a new title reveal, ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’.
The film, starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka the Thing, got its first teaser, with the ending showing Ralph Ineson as Galactus.
‘Thunderbolts*’ didn’t get a huge update, though the cast showed up and some exlcusive footage was shown.
And those are all the announcements from Marvel Studios’ Hall H SDCC 2024 panel.
