Marvel renames WandaVision spin-off and delays it and Echo to 2024
Marvel Studios has renamed the Agatha spin-off series for the second time. It will now be titled ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’. This comes from The Hollywood Reporter.
The series has also seen a sizeable delay. Originally scheduled for winter 2023, the series will now air on Disney+ in the fall of 2024.
The Agatha show has gone through quite the name change saga. When it was announced in 2021, it was titled ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’, before being changed to ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ and then changed to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’.
The plot of the show has yet to be revealed but it will star Kathryn Hahn as the titular witch.
It’s not the only Marvel series getting pushed out of 2023. ‘Echo’, a spin-off from the 2021 series ‘Hawkeye’, will be released on the platform in January 2024, a two-month delay after it was supposed to come out on November 29.
The series will still release all of its episodes at once, a first for an original Disney+ show and for Marvel Studios.
It will focus on the titular Echo, played by Alaqua Cox, returning to her hometown in Oklahoma, reconnecting with her Native American roots, and coming to terms with her past.
It will also feature Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.
‘What If…?’ season two, which was previously scheduled for an early 2023 release, will now debut around Christmas 2023.
‘X-Men ’97’, the spiritual successor to the classic 1990s animated TV series, was initially planned for a fall 2023 release, but will now come out in early 2024.
‘Ironheart’, a spin-off focusing on Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, a continuation of the Netflix series, have both been taken off the schedule.
These delays are due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood.
‘Loki’ retains its release date of October 6.
