Star Trek Prodigy Petition gets support of Anson Mount in calling for series revival
Star Trek fans were dealt a blow last week when Paramount revealed that it would be taking Star Trek: Prodigy off its streaming service Paramount+ and shopping it and its unfinished second season to other services.
Fans started a petition, asking for Paramount to save the show, and has reached over 18,000 signatures and is still growing.
Anson Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, has voiced his support for he petition, quote tweeting Scott Mantz’s impassioned plea to save the show:
“As of now, there have been ALMOST 900 EPISODES of “STAR TREK” produced since 1966! Wrap your head around that: 900 EPISODES, and they’re ALL STREAMING on PARAMOUNT+, until #StarTrekPRODIGY is removed from the service completely. WHY?? Shouldn’t ALL of “STAR TREK” be in one place?”
Prodigy writer Chad Quandt tweeted out his support too, saying that the outpouring of support from fans “has meant so much to myself and the rest of the team.”
The ten episode Blu-Ray of Star Trek: Prodigy is still available to buy, though it’s harder to find a copy as fans are racing to get one.
Executive producer Aaron J. Waltke tweeted out the good news.
Sadly for fans, Blu-Ray is now the only way to view Star Trek: Prodigy, as Paramount+ users are reporting that the show has now officially been taken off the service.
It remains to be seen whether this support can convince Paramount to change their mind, or if it convinces another company to save the show.
