Marvel announces Loki and Echo Disney+ release dates
The Marvel streaming shows Loki season two and Echo will hit Disney+ on October 6 and November 29.
Loki will have a traditional release model, with one episode coming out each week.
Echo however will release all of its episodes all at once, a first for Marvel.
The second season of Loki will follow the titular God of Mischief, played by Tom Hiddleston. Also returning is Owen Wilson as Agent M. Mobius from the Time Variance Authority (TVA).
Jonathan Majors’ Kang will take a more prominent role in the season, after his introduction in the finale of the show.
A post-credits tease in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania showed his character, a Kang variant called Victor Timely.
At the end of the first season, Kang took over the TVA, and Mobius seemingly forgot the relationship he made with Loki over the course of the show.
Echo will continue the story of Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox. It will pick up after the end of Hawkeye, where Echo killed Kingpin.
The show will follow her return to her hometown to confront her past and reconnect with her Native American roots.
Actor Vincent D’onofrio will reprise the role of Kingpin in the show, alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil.
It will be the first time a Marvel show will be led by a deaf actress.
Both shows’ later than expected release dates confirm that Marvel have slowed down the release of its streaming titles.
At San Diego Comic Con last year, Kevin Feige said that both Loki and Echo would release in summer 2023.
But due to the poor reception of Phase 4 and the cost of streaming ever more present, Marvel have been forced to scale back their offerings.
Marvel’s next show is Secret Invasion, which will release on June 21 on Disney+.
