New Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Poster and Patrick Stewart about if he’d continue Jean-Luc’s story

Star Trek: Picard season three is very close to its February release date, with just over a month before the captain and the rest of the cast from Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) return to our screens. But before that happens, the cast and showrunner Terry Matalas joined the annual Television Critics Association (TCA) to talk about the upcoming season. 

The most major news of this to come out was actor Sir Patrick Stewart’s reaction to continuing on as the captain past the conclusion of season three. The actor responded by saying that while the door was closed on any future seasons of Picard, he is open to doing more stories if “we can maintain the work that we did.” This comes from TCA attendee saloni gajjar. 

While not a confirmation that Stewart will return to the role or that anything else is in the works (that we know of), the actor confirming that he still wants to play the role is an important step in seeing the character again.

The official Star Trek twitter account also had a hint about where Worf’s arc will go in the third season. “Worf has always been on a journey, he’s always been looking and searching for who he is” the account posted. 

Showrunner Terry Matalas hinted that audiences will see other returning characters from TNG. Even more “Next-Gen, Next-Gen adjacent” characters will return, per TCA attendee Kayla Cobb. The third season will be more than just a reunion for just the main cast of TNG.

Paramount also released a poster featuring all of the returning cast, and with the USS Titan warping away from the ship Shrike. Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd are also featured on the poster. 

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 will debut February 16 on Paramount+ the United States, and on CTV Sci Fi Channel and Crave in Canada. Outside the US, the series will be available on Amazon Prime.
