Worshippers of Cthulhu Combines Supernatural Elements Into A Unique City Builder

Worshippers of Cthulhu is a city builder that rewards you by summoning an Old One. In the full game there will be multiple islands to inhabit. The demo has a manageable area to play around in. The better you manage your city, the more faith you gather which gains more blessings from the dark gods. In this game you’ll be doing this not by solving traffic issues and natural disasters, but through sacrifices of non-believers at various ritual sites.

Despite its dark premise and the aforementioned actions, the demo leaned away from gore heavy horror. So Worshippers of Cthulhu manages to be unconventional while following standard gameplay. It’s easy to pick up even if you’re unfamiliar with the genre. There are mundane tasks like creating efficient production lines. The game mostly does a good job of pointing players in the right direction to complete their objectives.

Worshippers of Cthulhu is also different because it allows you to upgrade followers and has some RTS elements with sea battles in the full game. Its unique elements were presented well in the demo, even though only a glimpse of the full gameplay loop was shown. If you missed the Steam Next Fest, this game is now out in early access. A full release date hasn’t been announced though.
