Void Crew Is An Impressive Co-op Space Adventure
Void Crew is a first person survival game that can be played solo or with friends. It’s chaotic and things can quickly go wrong. Each player has one of four different roles they can take. Communication is vital to a mission going well. Though this creates a steep difficulty curve for solo players, it is possible to complete each mission. There is a narrative but it’s given entirely through brief summaries and environmental details. This is great for fans of gameplay focus over hours of cutscenes.
Missions cycle through a few different types. Each feels just different enough to avoid boredom. Though the real variety comes from what can happen while trying to survive waves of enemy ships. Which will require engineers to move outside of the ship to fix hull breaches. There’s a couple of different ship types to choose from. The controls are mostly smooth and after a few hours, it’s easy for players to get a grasp on what they’re supposed to do. Even if things don’t always work out.
Void Crew doesn’t have a huge variety of content right now. Its entertainment comes almost entirely from the moments that are impossible to script. And that almost makes it seem like a sandbox game, though each mission has a set objective. Each can probably be completed in a timely manner with a good crew. None overstay their welcome and that extends the fun.
Players who enjoy intense battles, will want to check out Void Crew. Enemies come in waves, so there isn’t much chance to breathe before jumping into the void. There may be some frame rate hiccups, but nothing that makes the game unplayable. Pilots can’t actually crash so besides getting accidentally spaced, not buckling up, or friendly fire there’s little danger outside of combat. While coasting through space on a set path, players get treated with amazing views. The scenery changes often enough and has unique details to give an illusion of exploration. Void Crew is perfect for losing hours with a group of friends who also love space games.
