Viscera Cleanup Detail Is Wacky Fun And Annoying In Turn
Viscera Cleanup Detail is a light-hearted game about cleaning up bloody crime scenes. It’s a great way to get lost in repetitive tasks. That doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging. Items can be difficult to pick up and you can make as much of a mess as you clean up. Many times you may find yourself spending way longer than the game expects on a level. Once you get into a flow, you won’t notice nearly as much as you’d think.
While there’s no overarching narrative, each level has a theme. As you clean, the story of just how bad things have gone becomes clear. This can be a frustrating task. It can be difficult to find small items or bullet holes which blend in with other textures. If the theme isn’t particularly interesting to you, the level can still be finished. But with points deducted.
Players can complete paperwork after each level. It adds an extra layer of immersion. It also feels unnecessary. If you’ve cleaned everything you don’t won’t need the extra points. After trying to clean up an area with just a mop and bucket, you probably won’t have the patience to sit through it. If you want to get to the next level as soon as possible, you can skip it with no consequence.
Viscera Cleanup Detail is a mixed bag of zen-like silly gameplay. And irritation as you try to find what little thing you missed. There is a multiplayer option that can save so much time. While simultaneously making things so much more complicated. If you’re looking for a cleaning simulator that can quickly become chaotic, this may be for you.
