Superman Sneak Peek Reaction
Ahead of the new ‘Superman’ film, James Gunn released a sneak peak of the new movie at CinemaCon, showcasing Superman’s relationship with Krypto the Superdog. It’s a heartwarming moment for anyone who’s had or has a dog, It also teases a major setback for the hero, as audiences see him majorly wounded by something.
The peek opens in the frigid cold, snow and ice all around. As this is where the Fortress of Solitude is located, it’s a reasonable guess for this to be the North Pole. It appears that Superman was attempting to get home, fleeing after a battle where he clearly gets very heavily wounded. This likely places the scene in the mid part of the movie, where Superman is at his lowest point and feels defeated.
Superman crashes in the ice cold, and he instantly calls Krypto over to help. The lil guy is as white as the snow itself, and bounds over to help save his master. When he does get there, instead of taking Superman home, he’s very boisterous, jumping on Superman toying with his arms and legs. There’s even the sounds of bones snapping, which does hint at Krypto’s amazing strength, and one that might be utilised in other ways throughout the film. He continues to be extremely playful and cute for a few seconds longer, before taking Superman to the Fortress of Solitude.
When they do arrive, the Fortress rises up out of the ground, looking like a huge iceberg with many crystals. Once inside, robots take Superman away, and he tries to be polite but is brushed off by the robots. The scene ends with Superman getting a large dose of sunlight to heal, which looks and sounds extremely painful; the robots have to restrain Superman.
This scene helps to underscore Superman as a vulnerable character, that he’s not invincible. He gets injured, he has an unruly dog, and to heal isn’t easy. It helps make the character feel more relatable, that in many ways Superman is just like the humans he protects. After this, audiences cut to some of the trailer clips that have already been shown, which are full of hope and superheroics.
‘Superman’ hits cinemas on July 11.
