Star Wars: Hunters to be Shutdown in October
‘Star Wars: Hunters’, the 4v4 arena shooter developed by Zynga, will be shut down on October 1, the studio has confirmed.
Announced in a blog post on the official game’s website, the company said that ‘Hunters’ will receive its final content update on April 15, and the game will remain playable and available for download until its shutdown later in the year.
Players will be able to play as the support hunter Tuya, along with additional in-game content.
All in-game purchases will be disabled on April 15, though players who have spent any money before this date will not recieve any refunds.
Zynga thanked all of the players for supporting and playing the game
“We understand this news may be disappointing and want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly. Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates throughout the transition process.”
‘Hunters’ was released in May 2024, after suffering several delays. It was originally slated for a 2021 release.
Zynga had previously announced that ‘Hunters’ would be coming to Steam in January, but this never materialised and hasn’t been mentioned since. It appears this has been cancelled.
Despite the disappointment of another live-service game falling to the wayside, ‘Star Wars’ fans have more games to look forward to, like Respawn’s third ‘Star Wars: Jedi’ game and Bit Reactor’s turn-based tactics game, which will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April.
Further on the horizon, fans have the remake of ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ in development at Saber Interactive and ‘Star Wars: Eclipse’ at Quantic Dream to look forward to.
