Star Wars announces a Lego USC Venator set for October

The next Ultimate Collector Series set will be the Venator-class Star Destroyer LEGO and ‘Star Wars’ has announced.

The set will be going on general sale on October 4, 2023, and will come with a Phase Two Captain Rex figure and a new Admiral Yularen.

It will have 5,5374 pieces, a total height of 13 inches (32cm), width of 22 inches (54cm), and a total length of 43 inches (109cm).

The price of the ship is $649.99, £559.99, or €649.99.

The ship first appeared in the opening shots of ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ and had several appearances in the animated show ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’.

A play version of the Venator-class Star Destroyer was released in 2009, with an interior and more minifigures.

LEGO decided on the Venator to celebrate 20 years since the 2D animated ‘Clone Wars’ cartoon was developed by Genndy Tartakovsky and released in 2003.

The 3D ‘The Clone Wars’ animated series was released five years later in 2008.

It is the first ship from the Clone Wars to join the UCS range.

The Venator-class Star Destroyer was the predecessor to the Imperial-class Star Destroyer.

In an interview with StarWars.com, designer Hans Burkhard Schlömer confirmed that the LEGO Venator is as long as the UCS LEGO Imperial-class, which was released in 2002.

“Every LEGO set starts with a design brief — in this case, the directions were simple: make it as long as the Imperial Star Destroyer from set 75252, and base it on the ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars show’,” Schlömer said.

When asked what made ‘The Clone Wars’ special to LEGO and fans, Schlömer said: “‘The Clone Wars’ brought back what made this era of ‘Star Wars’ fascinating. And more of it! Clone troopers, Jedi, spaceships, old and new villains and heroes.”
