San Diego Comic Con schedule – What to expect

San Diego Comic Con is a hugely important event in the media landscape, with fans across the globe descending upon San Diego for news about their favourite franchises, meet and greet with show stars, merchandise, and more. 

The schedule for the event has been released, giving an audiences a full look at what they can expect to happen across the four days the event is running, from the superheroic antics, sci-fi happenings and fantastical presentations. 

Thursday July 25 

Michael Hirsh Meet and Greet

Michael Hirsh, the co-founder of the animation firm Nelvana, will be holding a rare one-on-on interview with moderator Mark Evanier to discuss how Hish built so many beloved franchises like  The Care Bears, Babar, Barbie, Max and Ruby, The Magic School Bus, Beetlejuice, The Adventures of Tintin and many more. Also, fans will be able to see him talk about his new book, “Animation Nation: How We Built A Cartoon Empire”. This will take place at 10am PDT in Room 9.

Todd McFarlane Updates on Spawn Movie, Comics, Toys, and More

Todd McFarlane, President of Image Comics, the creator of Spawn and much more, will be present at 12:30pm PDT in Ballroom 20 to talk about the ‘Spawn’ movie, all his exiciting upcoming comic projects, toys, and much more coming out. 

Also, from 7am PDT on Thursday in the Sails Pavilion, McFarlane will be holding a limited signing for fans.  

Transformers One – Paramount Animation

The first Transformers animated movie in nearly 40 years, fans can expect to find stars Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, director Josh Cooley, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in Hall H teasing ‘Transformers One’ ahead of its September 20 release date. The panel will take place at 11:45pm PDT.

Diving into the VFX of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – Disney

Stars Freya Allen, Kevin Durand, Owen Teague, and Pater Macon are joined by Halon Entertainment visualization supervisor Casey Pyke, Wētā FX visual effects supervisor Erik Winquist, one of the film’s editors, Dan Zimmerman and surprise guests to dive into the VFX wizardry behind the film ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’. Fans can listen to this at 1:45pm PDT in Room 6A. 

Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Disney+

Stars of the ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Disney+ show, Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri, and co-creator/executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg and executive producer Dan Shotz will appear to talk about the hit show in Hall H at 2:15pm PDT.  

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Paramount+

Host, writer, podcaster and stand-up comedian Claire Lim will join the voices of Leonardo – Nicolas Cantu, Raphael – Brady Noon, Donatello – Micah Abbey, Michelangelo – Shamon Brown Jr. as well as producers of the Paramount+ animated series to tease fans about what to expect from the show before it debuts on August 9. The panel will take place at 2:15pm PDT in Room 6BCF.

Jonathan Frakes Talks Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime TV Series

Jonathan Frakes will be joined by co-showrunners David Cormican and Dwayne Hill, executive producer Lucas Vivo, co-CEO of Volume Global Christopher Harrington, and surprise guests to discuss the ambitious effort of adapting ‘Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime’. This panel will take place at 4:45pm PDT in Room 6BF.

Later at 6pm PDT, Frakes, Cormican, Hill, and Vivo will be holding fan autographs in the Sails Pavilion. 

Her Universe Fashion Show Returns – Mattel

The 10th anniversary Her Universe Fashion Show will be presented by Mattel, and hosted by Ashley Eckstein and Michael James Scott. 25 designers will be selected to create and showcase their creations on the Greek Couture runway, with two winners chosen by the audience and a panel of judges. This will take place at 6pm PDT in the Harbor Ballroom Manchester Grand Hyatt.

Deadpool & Wolverine – Marvel Studios

Marvel president Kevin Feige, director Shawn Levy, and stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will attend a panel in Hall H to celebrate the release of the third Deadpool film, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. The panel will take place at 6:30pm PDT. 

Friday July 26

The Boys – Amazon Prime Video

Showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke joins stars from the hit Prime Video series to catch up with fans and discuss everything that happened in season four. They’ll also reveal behind-the-scenes secrets, favourite moments and many surprises. The panel will take place at 10am PDT in Hall H. 

Funko Fusion: A Festival of Fandom – 1010 Games

1010 Games head of publishing Arthur Parsons, creative driector Jon Burton, Funko’s VP, licensing Jason Bischoff, Monkeypaw creative director Ian Cooper, and renowned voiceover artist Kellen Goff join Reel Rejects’ Coy Jandreau to talk about the upcoming game in Room 6BCF at 10:15am PDT. 

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – Amazon Prime Video

Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay and cast members join fans in Hall H at 11am PDT to tease fans on what they can expect in the show’s second season, which releases on Amazon Prime Video on August 29. 

Things Left Unsaid: An Orville Season 4 Discussion – Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Television

Moderated by Justin Toney, this panel with Owen Cotter, Marcia Middleton, Mike Richards of Mission Log: The Orville and Elyse Hargreaves will explore the things left unsaid ahead of a possible season four of ‘The Orville’. This will take place at 11am PDT in Grand 10 & 11, Marriott Marquis, San Diego Marina.

Rick And Morty: The Anime Series – Adult Swim

Adult Swim’s head of action and anime Jason DeMarco will be joined by writer-director Takashi Sano, producers Joseph Chou and Takenari Maeda to talk about the upcoming anime adaptation of the beloved animated series. This will take place at 12pm PDT in the Indigo Ballroom. 

Doctor Who – BBC

The 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa is joined by Millie Gibson are joined by the showrunner and writer Russell T Davies discuss the season 14 finale and what the future holds for the franchise. This will take place at 12:30pm in Hall H. 

Solar Opposites – Hulu

Executive producers Mike McMahan and Josh Bycel are joined by cast members Thomas Middleditch, Mary Mack and Sean Giambrone to discuss theupcoming season five ahead of its August 12 release on Hulu. An special screening of a never-before-seen episode will also take place. This all happens at 2pm PDT in the Indigo Ballroom. 

Alien: Romulus – Disney

Ahead of the film’s release in cinemas on August 16, director Fede Alvarez, and cast Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu discuss the film and tease audiences with what they can expect. This panlel will take place at 5:15pm PDT in Hall H. 

Harley Quinn & Kite Man: Hell Yeah! – Max

Fans will get to hear from the creators of ‘Harley Quinn & Kite Man: Hell Yeah’ and see special sneak peeks from the adult animated show teasing the upcoming fifth season. This will take place at 8:15pm PDT in Room 6BCF. 

Saturday

My Adventures with Superman – Adult Swim Warner Bros Animation

The cast for ‘My Adventures with Superman’, Jack Quaid, Alice Lee, Ishmel Sahid and Kiana Madeira and executive producers Jake Wyatt, Josie Campbell and Brendan Clogher answer season two of the animated show and tease season three. This will take place at 10am PDT in the Indigo Ballroom. 

Futurama – Hulu

Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, Claudia Katz and voice cast Billy West, John DiMaggio, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, David Herman and Maurice LaMarche will tease season 12 of ‘Futurama’ on July 29. This takes place at 11am PDT in Ballroom 20. 

Space Command

After thousands funded the pilot, ‘Space Command’ is now streaming from creator Marc Scott Zicree. The cast is a who’s who of TV and film genre stars, including Doug Jones, Ethan McDowell, Bryan McClure, Mike Harney, Bruce Boxleitner, Bill Mumy, James Hong, Mira Furlan, Aaron Gaffey, Katharine McEwan, and John Hennigan. Featuring post-sound by David Bartlett, designs by Iain McCaig, edited by Dave Edison and with music composed by David Raiklen. Joe Ochman, and Ellen Dubin will also appear. ‘Space Command’ will also be screened. This will take place at 11am PDT in the Neil Morgan Auditorium in San Diego Central Library.

The Toys That Made Us

Brian Volk-Weiss and the Nacelle team share an updated about the future of ‘The Toys That Made Us’ documentary after nearly five years after its last episode. This panel will take place at 11:15am PDT in Room 6A. 

Superman & Lois – The CW

Fans will be treated to a special video presention of ‘Superman and Lois’ with a Q&A with stars and producers ahead of the fourth and final season that will release on The CW this fall. This will take place at 11:15am PDT in Hall H. 

The Simpsons – Disney

Ahead of the ‘Treehouse of Horror 35’ special, Matt Groening, Matt Selman, Rob LaZebnik, Tim Bailey and special guest moderator Kevin Smith give an exclusive look and talk about ‘The Simpsons. This panel will take place at 12pm PDT in Ballroom 20.

Star Trek Universe – Paramount

Fans will be joined by cast and creatives from across the ‘Star Trek’ franchise, including ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’, ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’, ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ and ‘Star Trek: Section 31’, and Alex Kurtzman, gather in Hall H at 2:15pm to tease what’s in store.

Batman: Caped Crusader – Amazon Prime Video

Cast members, and executive producer Matt Reeves will be present to tease what fans can expect from the first season of ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ as they reimagine the Batman mythology and show off a screening of the new season, ahead of its August 1 release date on Amazon Prime Video. This panel will take place at 2:45 in Room 6BCF. 

The Wild Robot – Universal 

Writer-director Chris Sanders and voice stars Lupita Nyong’o and Kit Connor tease the upcoming film based on Peter Brown’s book from DreamWorks Animation. This takes place at 4:15pm PDT in Room 6BCF. 

Silo – Apple TV

Executive producer and star Rebecca Ferguson, creator/showrunner Graham Yost and executor producer and author Hugh Howey are joined by surprise guests to tease what fans can get excited about for season two. This panel will take place at 4pm PDT in Ballroom 20. 

The Penguin – HBO

Colin Farrell will virtually join Cristin Milioti and Rhenzy Feliz, executive producer Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark and showrunner and executive producer Lauren LeFranc tease the upcoming season ahead of the official trailer for the show. This panel will take place at 4:45pm PDT in Hall H. 

Alien: Rogue Incursion VR Game – Survios 

Audiences will be able to get a peek at the upcoming VR game based off the ‘Alien’ franchise, ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion VR Game’ with chief product officer TQ Jefferson, studio art director Tate Mosesian, software engineer Eugene Elkin, writer Alex White, and composer Sara Barone, Moderated Coy Jandreau, and this panel will take place at 5:15pm PDT in Room 6BCF. 

Marvel Studios Showcase

Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige will be joined by special guests to tease an inside look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This will take place in Hall H at 6pm PDT. 

Hellboy: The Crooked Man

The cast of the upcoming horror film, Jack Kesy, Jefferson White, Adeline Rudolph, director Brian Taylor, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola are joined by moderator Coy Jandreau from Reel Rejects to talk about the upcoming ‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’ film. This takes place at 6:45pm PDT in Room 6DE. 

Sunday  July 28

Star Trek: Prodigy – Netflix

There will be a special screening of an episode of ‘Star Trek: Prodigy’ followed by the ‘Star Trek’ veteran Kate Mulgrew and executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman to discuss the new season which is currently airing on Netflix. This will be held at 10am PDT in Room 6DE. 

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory – Netflix

Later on Sunday, ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ executive producers Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley, and cast memebers will offer hints and teases about what the upcoming season two show will offer fans. This will be held at 3pm PDT in Room 6DE.  

This is just a taste of what audiences can expect from the convention, with many more panels taking place and stars present, including Dean Devlin & Christie Burke.
