Review of Love, Death, & Robots Volume 4

Volume 4 of Love, Death & Robots continues its tradition of delivering a visually
diverse collection of animated shorts. This season leans into a notably playful and often bizarre
variety, offering a mix of genres from sci-fi horror to dark comedy. Standout episodes like the
surprisingly heartwarming “For He Can Creep” and the wickedly funny “Smart Appliances,
Stupid Owners” demonstrate the series’ enduring capacity for inventive storytelling and striking
animation. While the visual creativity remains a constant strength, the narrative impact across
the ten episodes feels somewhat inconsistent, with some entries proving more memorable and
thought-provoking than others. Personally, this isn’t a huge setback.

Despite a few less impactful shorts, Volume 4 still offers a worthwhile and often captivating
viewing experience for fans of the anthology. While perhaps not the strongest installment in the
series, the season provides enough moments of brilliance and imaginative weirdness to reaffirm
Love, Death & Robots’ unique and often boundary-pushing place in adult animation. It’s a
testament to the power of short-form storytelling, even when the results are a mixed but
ultimately intriguing bag. It’s still worth a watch and there’s still a lot to love overall.
