Revenge of the Savage Planet Has A Universe To Explore With Enough Patience

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a survival game where players crash land on a definitely uninhabited world. Players can take on this adventure with a friend unlike Journey to the Savage Planet. The goal isn’t just get back to Earth, but maybe get a little revenge on Alta Global; the company responsible. Along the way you and your co-op buddy get to enjoy slapstick humor and enjoyable narrative. Each area is vibrantly cartoonish paired with various dangerous creatures. Even falling comes off as a joke that players can’t help laughing at. Despite the damage.

As players travel through the star system they’ll collect an assortment of tools. Including an electric whip, jump pack, a gun with bouncing bullets, and more. Many resources can also be found to help in crafting. Players will be able to upgrade their health, stamina, and tools. While also unlocking wacky cosmetics. The gameplay loop often involves revisiting planets. Since crafting is fairly light, it’s easy to collect resources in large amounts. This keeps the game from becoming too tedious.

There are some issues though. Players looking for an open world that naturally unfolds aren’t going to find that. Enemies aren’t overly challenging but are hyper aggressive. This makes capturing anything a pain. “Passive” enemies still attack when touched. Scanning can also feel like an overly complex dance. This is a big part of collecting resources as well as finding out how to get back.

The care put into this imaginative world is clear. Revenge of the Savage Planet can be fun as long as expectations are tempered. It’s a slower, more methodical take on the survival genre. There are base decorations players can get that have no advantage. Outside of an occasional high five. And it’s still worth doing because it’s fun.
