Replica Star Wars blasters auctioned in UK
Replica ‘Star Wars’ blasters have gone to auction in North Yorkshire, UK.
The models are in mint-condition, and are accurate to the weapons used by Princess Leia and Han Solo in the first ‘Star Wars’ film, titled ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’ released in 1977.
The blasters come with their own display case, base, and plaque, as well as a certificate of authenticity.
Ryedale Auctioneers estimated that the items would be sold for between £600 and £1,000.
Nick Turner, from the auction house in the UK, spoke to the BBC, and said: “For ‘Star Wars’ collectors, they’re about the pinnacle of prop collectable items.
“They only made 2,500 and they very, very rarely come up.”
These two blasters aren’t the only ones, as Jango Fett’s iconic blasters, rebel trooper and stormtrooper blasters will also be present.
Turner explained the owner was looking to downsize and focus on other areas of his collection.
“[He] is concentrating on building a one-third scale armoured car from Aliens.”
Props and replicas are a popular collector’s item, especially with a franchise as well-known and loved as ‘Star Wars’.
Turner wants to fetch a competitive price for them. He said that while he could have put them on for £2,000, he said that he didn’t risk them not selling.
“Auctioneers have a saying, ‘Put them low, watch them go. Put them high, watch them die’,” Turner said.
