Pawn Planet Puts a Sci-fi Spin on management Sims
Pawn Planet is a shop management sim with strange customers and items. Players must buy these items low and sell it as high as possible. Haggling is a satisfying loop. It keeps something repetitive from becoming grating on the nerves. There’s also a repair mechanic which allows players to add value to any items they win.
On top of haggling with oftentimes hilarious customers, players can bid on mystery storage units. They can win big and end up with rare items. Or a pile of completely worthless junk. If the gamble isn’t worth the risk there’s another game mode. Players can engage in first-person heists to acquire items. These are more mini games than full levels, but serve as a great break from Pawn Planet’s core gameplay loop.

There isn’t a lot of customization as far as upgrades so far. This is an early access game, so that could potentially change. As of now, this is the weakest part. At least for players who prefer in-depth systems. Since the management side is so much fun it can be overlooked for now.
Pawn Planet has a colorful palette that fits its silly themes. It’s entertaining for a few hours at a time. In its current state content is limited and it’s predictably buggy. Players after a low stakes management sim may want to keep an eye on this. New items and fixes come out often for players who do enjoy what’s already in-game.
