Our Man In L.A. sci-fi film to premiere at San Diego Comic-Con

Indie director Joshua Sowden, known for ‘Incessant’ and ‘Extramundane’, will be premiering his next film at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

Guy Birtwhistle

‘Our Man in L.A’ stars Guy Birtwhistle as an alien technology dealer who struggles to recover a UFO.

The premiere will take place on Saturday June 27, at 12:35pm in Grand Ballroom 6 in the Marriot Marquis.

What sets this film apart is that while other cast members are a part of the film, Birwhistle is the only one that appears on camera.

This decision was not just a creative one; Sowden had to comply with SAG safety guidance while filming during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To get around this limitation, the story is told through a series of phone calls and VR chats with the rest of the cast offscreen.

The supporting cast includes Amy Motta, Brant Rotnem, Krishna Smitha, Daniel Shawn Miller, Abigail Kate Thomas, Danny Parker-Lopes, and Brock Jones.

During the film’s production, Sowden used several technologies, like Unreal Engine and AI art, the latter being controversial in filmmaking.

Sowden, Birtwhistle, Smitha, and Thomas will be present at SDCC.

The trailer teases a Birtwhistle’s character being blackmailed into chasing a rare find, after his daughter is kidnapped.
