Obsidian Direct : A First Look At The Outer Worlds 2 And Grounded 2
In the Outer Worlds 2 Direct we got an expanded look at what’s to come. It will be set on Arcadia, a colony torn apart by rival factions and corporate scheming. Players will encounter three factions trying to enforce their version of the future. These are militarized utopians, corporate cultists, and prophetic scientists. Players can expect the dark humor to be cranked up to an all new level.
If dealing with rival factions weren’t enough, Arcadia is also being torn apart by space-time rifts. Alliances can be made with each faction if players are feeling traitorous. There’s also new companions who will react to the choices being made. The world itself will respond to players who get to see towns switch hands. Radio stations will not only report on events but change tone accordingly.
The RPG system of Outer Worlds 2 is also expanding. Third person is being added along with better movement and combat. There are also new flaws being introduced. One being “Bad Knees” which gives a permanent speed boost. But causes your knees to pop, alerting nearby enemies. The Shrink Ray will return with an upgrade. Players can now squish enemies once they’ve been shrunk.
The Outer Worlds 2 will be available across all platforms, as well as available day one with Game Pass. With Xbox Play Anywhere, players will have access across Xbox systems and PC. This will include cross-saves. The game launches on October 29, 2025 though pre-orders are already live. Players can purchase the standard edition for $79.99 or premium edition for $99.99. Grounded 2 was also announced and it’s promised to be even larger. The world will expand from a mad scientist’s backyard to Brookhollow Park. The full story hasn’t been revealed yet. There will be mysteries to discover when the game launches in early access. Players will find plenty of clues to chase and the dev team encourages wild theories. To streamline the experience, survival tools will be packed into one omni-tool. Characters will be able to pick up more while traveling through the new biomes. Snack bars, toppled ice cream carts, and more are open to exploration.
There will be new enemies, but all bugs will have updated mechanics. Combat is going to be more intense since players and bugs can now dodge.
