Ninth film in Alien franchise to start filming with mysterious plot synopsis
The ninth film in the Alien franchise will start filming on March 9 in Budapest, Hungary, 20th Century Studios has announced.
Alongside this, the studio has released a brief synopsis and the cast for Fede Alvarez’s upcoming entry.
The cast of the currently untitled Alien film is led by Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown), and she’ll be joined by David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Bone) Isabela Merced (Rosaline), Spike Fearn (The Batman) and Aileen Wu (Away from Home)
The synopsis of the film reads “In this ninth entry in the immensely popular and enduring film series, a group of young people on a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Fede Alvarez, who has directed Evil Dead, The Girl in the Spider’s Web and Don’t Breathe, also wrote the screenplay with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues.
Ridley Scott, the director of the original Alien, will serve as a producer with Michael Pruss. Brett O’Connor, Elizabeth Cantillon, and Tom Moran will act as executive producers.
Alien is a long running franchise, with the first film released in 1979 and the latest film in the franchise, Alien: Covenant was released in 2017.
This film was announced in March 2022. No release date has been provided for the film.
