New Details Revealed About ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 in First Teaser
It’s been one of Netflix’s biggest hits for almost ten years, but now ‘Stranger Things’ is coming to an end with its fifth season set to release later this year. At their Tudum event, the streamer released the first teaser trailer for the show, which gives some hints as to what to expect from the final season.
The short teaser includes a lot of footage taken from the previous four seasons, but there are a few new shots included to tease what will happen. It’s twisting up the tension, teasing a big showdown to end everything, and seems a lot darker–literally darker in its lighting and cinematography. There’s hints at a big focus on Joyce and Will too, which would fit with fan theories that Will is going to take a central role due to his connection to the Upside Down and the Mind Flayer. There is a shot that takes place in the Upside Down, possibly showing a barrier between that world and Dimension X, the realm which Henry Creel first discovered, so more about how this other world actually functions could be explored. In addition, it looks like a couple of new cast members could be added, possibly more young kids.
Alongside the trailer, Netflix also gave us the first official synopsis of season five:
“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown.
Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.
To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time”
So, with everything that’s revealed here, the big plot details are still being kept under wraps, and we’ll have to wait for the first full trailer to get a better picture of the story for season five, but it certainly looks like it will be a big, epic, and emotional end to the show.
