Most anticipated games of 2025
Someone once said 2025 was gonna be a banger of a year, and they weren’t wrong. This year is stacked with some of the most hyped game releases we’ve been waiting on forever to finally drop on Steam.
So buckle up, because here are five of the most anticipated games of 2025 that are about to take over your life and most probably your sleep schedule.
Ghost of Yōtei
Taking place years after Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei will introduce the icy wilderness of Hokkaido. You play as a fresh ronin who finds himself caught in the middle of a fight involving warlords and the growing rebellion of the Ainu people. In addition to high-end graphics, the game will have better shifting seasons mechanics, stealth-driven combat, violent sword duels, and a moral decision system that has an effect on your campaign.
Forza Horizon 6
Forza Horizon 6 is expected to hit the road in late 2025 or 2026, and this time, we’re (probably) heading to a jaw-dropping open-world set in Japan, teeming with snowstorms, heavy rain, and smooth day-to-night transitions.
You’ll get many sophisticated car mods to including interior tweaks, aero kits, and a big focus on JDM culture. Multiplayer is also getting an upgrade with better convoys, lobbies, and smarter AI.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of the 2004 classic, dropping you right into the thick of the Cold War. You play as Naked Snake, sent deep into the Soviet jungle to rescue a scientist and battle his own mentor, The Boss. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game looks absolutely gorgeous, like jungle sweat-you-can-feel gorgeous. Fans are hyped because this is the second Kojima game releasing this year.
Borderlands 4
Borderlands 4 will hit Steam on September 12, 2025, and this time, it’s taking us to the brutal prison planet of Kairos, where we will get to choose one of four brand-new Vault Hunters and lead the rebellion against the villain named Timekeeper. The game has gotten massive upgrades, including grappling hooks, double jumps, and even gliding. Weapon mods are also available now, thanks to the new Licensed Parts system.
Mafia: The Old Country
Mafia: The Old Country drops on August 8, 2025, and takes you way back to early 1900s Sicily. The focal character is Enzo Favara, a simple man who ends up joining the Torrisi crime family. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game will be teeming with action, including knife fights, cover shootouts, even horseback and chariot chases. Mafia: The Old Country will feature fresh gameplay mechanics, a serious plot, and a setting the series has never touched before.
