Jason Momoa Recast as Lobo in DCU
Jason Momoa will continue to feature as a DC Comics character in James Gunn’s and Peter Safran’s DCU, but as a new character.
Mamoa will suit up as the character of Lobo in the upcoming ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ film, as confirmed by the actor in a post on his Instagram page.
“I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” said the post.
Momoa went on to say that should DC ask him to play Lobo, it would be “a f*ck yeah.”
Momoa added a caption that said, “They called.”

Lobo was first introduced in DC Comics Omega Man #3 back in June 1983 by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen and is a violent antihero from the planet Czarnia with super strength, regenerative abilities and an invulnerability that makes him a dangerous opponent.
He’s often shown as a bounty hunter with a taste for chaos and destruction.
Plot details for the ‘Supergirl’ film are tightly under wraps, and the project is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ that Bilquis Evely illustrated.
Craig Gillespie will direct the film with a script by Ana Nogueira.
Momoa is a high-profile actor, who in the DCEU (the iteration of the DC universe before Gunn and Safran rebooted it) played the hero Aquaman, and appeared in ‘Aquaman’, both versions of the ‘Justice League’ by Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder, the ‘Aquaman’ sequel ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ and even cameoed at the end of ‘Peacemaker’ season one.
Momoa has also appeared in projects like ‘Dune: Part One’, and upcoming films like ‘A Minecraft Movie’ and ‘Fast X: Part 2’.
