Halo composer Marty O’Donnell running for Congress in Nevada
Marty O’Donnell, one of the composers of the iconic franchises ‘Halo’ and Destiny,’ has revealed that he will be running for Congress in Nevada this June.
O’Donnelll will be running to be a Republican candidate in state’s third Congressional District for the House of Representatives.
He faces a primary election in June, and if he wins that he will be able to run as the official Republican candidate in that district. This is the first time O’Donnell has ran for office.
The seat is currently occupied by Democrat Susie Lee, woh has been in office since winning the seat in 2018.
O’Donnell is best known for his musical and audio work on games such as ‘Riven,’ ‘Myth II,’ ‘Halo: Combat Evolved,’ ‘Halo 2,’ ‘Halo 3,’ ‘Halo 3: ODST,’ ‘Halo: Reach,’ ‘Destiny,’ and ‘Golem.’
Speaking to GamesBeat, O’Donnell said has has always had a passion for politics and he hated how the toxic divisions were affecting the United States.
“Politics has always been a kind of hobby,” O’Donnell said. “I just don’t really like the toxic divisions that are happening in our country. I don’t like any of that stuff. And I was sort of reaching out to some local people if there was some way I could help out. I got a bunch of calls from people who asked if I would consider running for Congress.”
When asked if he supported Donald Trump, who will almost certainly be the Republican nominee for President in 2024, O’Donnell said he did.
“America enjoyed a secure border and no inflation in the Trump administration four years ago,” O’Donnell said. “I have voted for President Trump twice and will vote for him a third time this fall. But no matter who is elected this November, if I have the privilege to serve, I plan to work with them. That’s what voters expect and that’s what I’ll do.”
O’Donnell will start a YouTube channel called ‘Marty for Congress’ to promote his campaign.
