Dune: Prophecy Renewed for Season Two
‘Dune: Prophecy’ has been renewed for a second season at Warner Bros. Discovery.
The series is set 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ movies, and focus on the politics of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood, an all female order of powerful witches that secretly manipulate galactic power.
It loosely adapts the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and follows Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson), and her sister Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams) as they battle an unknown enemy.
The sisters are part of House Harkonnen, who in the future will betray House Atreides with Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV when they trick them into taking the planet Arrakis and kill them.
Mark Strong plays Emperor Javicco Corrino, ancestor of Shaddam Corrino, who is struggling with the delicate situation both in his court and across the galaxy.
Audiences follow conflicts across two planets, the Bene Gesserit home of Wallach IX and the then Imperial capital of Salusa Secundus.
The show boasts a large supporting cast, with Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, and Barbara Marten.
Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming said “‘Dune: Prophecy’ has captivated audiences around the globe thanks to the visionary leadership of showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, who will continue to guide this grand tale of truth and power.
“We are incredibly grateful to our partners at Legendary and to our extraordinary cast and crew for their service to the Imperium. We’re excited to collaborate with this team again to see what they have in store.”
Alison Schapker is showrunner and executive producer, and Diane Ademu-John also serving as executive producer and series co-developer.
There is no indication of when the second season will release, however audiences will likely have to wait at least two years.
