‘Dune: Prophecy’ Episode 6 Recap

Episode six of ‘Dune: Prophecy’ starts with a flashback to when Valya killed mother Dorotea, and we see that there were several other sisters who witnessed the act, including Tula. They make a plan to cover up what really happened by telling the others that Dorotea was overcome with grief at Raquella’s death, and killed herself.

Tula tells her sister that she’s pregnant with the child of Vorian Atreides, and that she wants to keep the baby. Valya says that she will support her, telling her “sisters above all”.

In the present day on Wallach IX, Tula and Sister Nazir do some research into the nightmares all the sisters had, and connect it to what killed Kasha, discovering it’s a virus that feeds on fear. They think they can find a cure.

Nazir undergoes a procedure where she tries to isolate the virus and remove it from her body, but it doesn’t work. The virus keeps changing and adapting faster than she can react, and it kills her.

Ynez tries to free Kieran who’s been arrested for treason, but is stopped by her mother and placed under arrest.

Valya makes a move to remove Corrino from the throne. She says Francesca has to assassinate him and gives her a poison to use.

We’re shown a flashback shortly after Dorotea’s death, where Valya reveals the thinking machine to the other sisters, and they make a plan to have Javicco become emperor, and Natalya become his wife, as he will be easy to manipulate, and eventually give them a daughter who will join them, so they can place a sister on the throne. She sends Francesca to begin imprinting on the young Javicco.

Tula finds out about the nanotech that’s used in the virus, and that Desmond himself must have been infected with it. She wants to try and save him, and leaves Wallach IX.

While she is gone, Lila is possessed by Dorotea, who wakes up and tricks Jen into letting her escape. She talks to the other acolytes, and tries to find some of the sisters who were loyal to her, but none of them are there anymore, and there is no record of them anywhere.

On Seluca Secundis, Javicco wants Francesca to stay. Hart tells him how dangerous this is, but he won’t listen. Desmond realizes he will invite the sisters back into the palace, and that his weakness will destroy everything they’ve built up.

He goes and tells Natalya all of this, who puts Corrino down, and tells him that she is now in charge of the Imperium.

Valya gets into the palace by feigning an audience with the Emperor. She sits on Corrino’s throne and insults him when he arrives. She says he is weak, a puppet who’s been manipulated by the Sisterhood for years, that Francesca never really loved him, and all they want is Ynez. His time as emperor is coming to an end.

As she predicted, she is arrested and taken to the cells where the princess is.

Lila goes to the pool where Dorotea died and drains the water to reveal several skeletons which have been buried there for decades.

In a flashback, we see a group of Dorotea’s followers shortly after her death. They don’t accept Valya as Mother Superior. She uses the voice on them, forcing them to choose: join or die. They all kill themselves except for one, Sister Avila.

Javicco meets Francesca, tells her what Valya said, and that she is to leave the palace now. She puts down the poisoned blade and says she was supposed to kill him, but she won’t.

Javicco still doesn’t believe her, as he now knows he’s been manipulated by the Sisters all his life. He says he will have control over one thing and stabs himself. As Francesca is holding him as he dies, Natalya comes up behind her and stabs her with the poison meant for the emperor.

In the cells, Theodosia shape shifts to look like Ynez and takes her place so she can escape. They flee with Kieran. When Hart arrives, he is stabbed by Theodosia who is now disguised as a wounded guard.

The Sisterhood find out about the murdered sisters, and also gain access to the thinking machine, which they destroy.

A flashback shows that Tula pretended her baby had died and gave him up so he would be safe from Valya and the darkness that surrounded their family, sending him away in the hope he would have a better life.

Ynez and Kieran have to fight their way through the emperor’s troops as they escape. Valya hangs back, to hold off Desmond Hart. They have a battle as he tries to kill her like he did Kasha, and she fights to resist it.

Tula arrives. She tells Valya how to overcome the virus, that she can’t fight it, and helps her to survive.

We see that Hart was operated on while he was on Arrakis by some unknown group, who put the nanotech inside him, and that’s how he can kill the others.

Tula protects her son from Valya. She tells her what really happened to her son, and why she sent him away so he would be safe from her. Valya says he is still a threat, but that it’s her choice. She leaves and escapes the planet with Kieran and the princess.

Tula believes she can save her son and reunites with him, but Hart has her arrested.

The final scene shows Valya, Ynez and Kieran arriving on the desert planet of Arrakis, as they search for whoever it was that operated on Hart and created such a great threat to the Sisterhood.
